Mini Challenge Wrap Up and New Challenge

I have lovely tote bags to distribute to all the fanci fun peeps. While I think only Bob actually managed to work out EVERY SINGLE DAY, fanci challenges are not about perfection. Fanci is a state of being, and we are all fanci. The challenges are about aspiring to push yourself harder, and challenging yourself. I know that sounds like hippie bullshit, but it's the truth, and I'm the one distributing tote bags, so shut it.

This new challenge is a little bit harder, and a little more hardcore. It's about being an athlete. I'm doing this triathlon in August, God willing and the creek don't rise. The major setback would be if I don't figure out how to ride my bike without training wheels, in which case I'll do all the same distances here in town and time myself, then promptly sign up for another event that doesn't include cycling. Either way, it's happening.

The fanci fun challenge for summer 2010 is this: find an athletic event in your community, sign up, and compete. It can be as simple as a 5k charity walk. It can be as challenging as a half marathon or an iron distance triathlon or beyond. If necessary, it can be a challenge where you join an online community and track your own progress, with a certain goal in mind. I'd rather it be a real, live, in person event. The fattest, nastiest WoW nerd you know could get up and walk a mile without dying. So can you.

Since Sarah already knows the prize, I will go ahead and reveal that it's a wrist band. Because everybody needs a wrist band these days. Post or email and let me know when y'all pick your poison.

UPDATE: Some links to help a fanci out.

Hmm! I've found a local runners' club that I might join when I have some membership fee cash.

It looks like they do monthly run/walk events. I am not sure I am up for a run/walk during the summer months, but I think starting participation the end of August is a respectable goal. It might be fun to participate in their walking events once a month or once every other month.

I pledged to keep up my food log again starting Sunday, and that's been a pretty big fail. I felt derailed by my car drama, but there's no reason I can't go enter things now. I want to enter some of my food from the weekend into the Livestrong food log and haven't pushed myself to do that yet, but I haven't checked yet to see whether they would even believe that I had a pizza with cajun spiced crust. It was the best pizza I've had in years, for the record.

Cajun spices don't seem like they would add significant calories, unless it was like, Cajun spiced butter or something.

I have also been trying to enter food again, starting yesterday. Let's keep each other on track. I will send angry emails if you do not update your log by tonight. :P

Ack! Angry emails away, I am about to drag myself to bed after an evening spent parked on the couch with my wonderful, comforting boyfriend and don't have the muster, at the moment. But I will. I am afeard of the wrath of Maggie and my conscience.
